Newline Trophy has been the leader in metal engraving for over 35 years, and we know the business. Engraving is a practice of carving or laser marking metals, plastics and glass. Here we will discuss several different types of custom metal plates including industrial diamond engraving, laser engraving and chemical laser engraving stainless steel.
Prior to the early 80’s, diamond engraved metal was done primarily using a pantograph engraver and since has migrated to computer-controlled machine engraving. A pantograph engraver used hand set type placed into a holding table, then via a vise and tracing stylus was scaled and duplicated into metal substrates using an industrial diamond tip. Computer-controlled machine engraving produces the same detailed fine point engraving as a pantograph, but the engraved text and logos are generated by a CNC (computer numerical control) engraver with diamond tip attachment. A diamond tip scribe produces a fine line just microns wide that is cut into brass or aluminum with detailed precision. Letters are often created using multiple passes side by side to create depth and thickness to the font. Each of our standard diamond engraved plates are available in 20 different materials - including gold brass, painted brass, silver aluminum, anodized aluminum and painted aluminum. Since brass is a harder material, the engraving is not as deep and displays a finely detailed edge to every pass the computerized engraver makes. Painted materials like black brass engrave gold and anodized or painted aluminum engraves silver. Perfect for trophy engraving or any project needing personalized engraving, Newline offers 38 standard diamond engraved plate sizes available on this page and can custom cut any size material for your special projects.
Newline Trophy offers 38 of our most popular laser engraved metal plates for quick delivery here. Laser engravers first made an appearance in the engraving industry in the late 70’s primarily used to engrave beautiful designs into wood. A CO2 laser that had an oscillating table, it scanned black and white artwork transferring the design via a beam of light, thus removing material to darken and incise the material. Newline purchased its first laser engraver in 2001 shortly after we were confident the equipment available was capable of the growth we projected. Laser engraved metal has a distinctly different look than traditional engraving. The laser is programmed to remove just enough surface material on brass and aluminum to allow the gold or silver color to show through prominently. From painted laser engraved brass and traditional laser engraved aluminum to hard anodized exterior aluminum plates, you’re sure to find the right material for your project here.
Laser engraved stainless-steel is one of our more popular engraved plate options. Our engraved stainless plates are created of 22-gauge, #304 brushed stainless steel, chosen for its corrosion resistance. Newline offers 38 of our most common sizes here with the ability to engrave any font and logo. Plus, since we manufacture in house, we are able to cut any size metal plate to fit your needs. Using a molybdenum compound applied to the stainless-steel plates prior to laser engraving with a CO2 laser, we are able to draw carbon to the surface of the stainless creating a dark black image on the engraved plates that will last for years. Engraved stainless is perfect for outdoor use in your garden or as engraved metal tags with serial number and company logo.
